This online course provides Georgia Department of Community Supervision sworn officers with a comprehensive understanding of the Duty to Intervene, emphasizing the legal, ethical, and policy foundations that require officers to act when misconduct or neglect occurs. Through case law review, real-world examples, DCS-specific scenarios, and practical intervention strategies, participants will learn to recognize early signs of escalation, apply de-escalation techniques, intervene appropriately using verbal or physical actions, and document their response in accordance with Georgia law, Georgia POST standards, and DCS policy. This course reinforces the professional responsibility to protect life, safeguard constitutional rights, and uphold the integrity of the agency. ***This course will also fulfill your annual one-hour of De-escalation training requirement.***
