Fostering Positive Community Relations

Course Description
This course explores tools officers can utilize when communicating with citizens in their jurisdictions. Officers will perform their law enforcement duties in a manner that establishes positive community relations, in accordance with the concepts included in the Police Legitimacy and Procedural Justice. In addition, officers must understand that Fostering Positive Community Relations training is not meant to limit the officer?s duty or interfere with the officer safety. Fostering Positive Community Relations should be viewed by the officer like any other tool used to perform his or her duty effectively and safely. Upon completion of this course, students will receive 3 hours POST credit and will satisfy the elective requirements for the 2018 Governor's Initiative.
