Cultural Awareness

Course Description
This course explores tools officers can utilize when communicating with citizens in their jurisdictions. Keep in mind that cultural awareness is not exclusively race and religion. Cultural awareness stretches beyond the physical, intellectual, or emotional composition of an individual. In addition, officers must understand that cultural awareness training is not meant to limit the officer?s duty or interfere with the officer safety. Cultural awareness should be viewed by the officer like any other tool used to perform his or her duty effectively and safely. Upon completion of this course, students will receive 2 hours POST credit and will satisfy the elective requirements for the 2018 Governor's Initiative.
